Most Beautiful Fractals

"QUANTUM SHOT" #400

Fractals are infinite, possessing infinite beauty.

Be careful when exploring linked galleries on this page - they just might suck you in, and you'll be gladly wandering there, lost to the world for some blissful time. However, this is exactly what fractal art does best - making you explore and gasp in amazement, discovering new vistas of harmony and celestial order - turn after turn, step after step.

Nicholas Rougeux from C82 consistently makes most beautiful and inspirational fractals - now available for purchase on Zazzle and Deviant Art -

Cory Ench is another undisputed maestro of fractal compositions. His gallery is like a world in itself: it can make you to forget your surroundings and plunge into a convoluted mist of vaguely fractal shapes (make sure to click to enlarge the images - these are only sectional previews) -

Even more fascinating is this series of fractals, which has a fuzzy, almost "knitted" feel to it:

Cirque du Apophysis

"Apophysis" generator allows you to create your own fractals - so the "cat is out of the bag" now, and many creative souls embarked on the artistic quest for the perfectly enchanting fractal art.

Joe Clark has an impressive array of fractals in his many galleries, a lot of them made using Apophysis generator. A few look positively organic, like something almost alive:

We've featured the "Flame Fractals" series by Roger Johnstone before, but this image is another interesting take on fractals, adding to them a "performance in itself" aspect:

Fractals take on a certain spiritual aspect, when placed inside a cathedral:

Peggy J. Hughes creates beautifully romantic fractal images (using other layers of photography and particle plug-ins):

Here is Peggy's explanation of a work process, for those who are interested how such images are created:

"For this one, I created the fractal layer with Apophysis and the background is a distortion of an image of a pink zinnia. Lots of trial and error getting the layering right, the shape tool for the hearts, and finally the bubbles were added last with the particle plugin from Ulead."

Transparent Fractals by Rea Leonidopoulou can be seen in this set.

Here is a glorious abstract work of art "The Origin of Colors":

Nature still creates the best fractals
